Tonight, The Brightest Full Moon Of The Year

Anyone who happens to come across my blog this evening, tonight's full moon is supposed to be the biggest and brightest moon of the year. If you remember, take a quick peak up at the sky and see the absolute beauty of the falling leaf moon in full.

Hello Jan, Thank you so much. I'm starting to work on my cookbook a bit more now, since I'm putting my garden to rest for the winter. By the time the snow starts flying and I'm indoors more, I Indend to work on it everyday til it's done.

Hello Olivia, Another beautiful Haiku for me. I just love these cute Haikus. I really have to learn how to write one. Maybe you can tell me how.

You write three lines, Lydia. The first line should contain five syllables, the second line seven, the third line five syllables again:
5 - 7 - 5
You give a fleeting impression of nature, an animal, atmosphere, or mood.

Since we live in the country we don't have city lights interferring with the night-time sky. We also chose not to have a yard light for the same reason. I love to go out with my pups at night and see all the stars and watch the moon rise. Sometimes it is just spectacular as it gets full. I'll be watching tonight! I have never tried to capture it with a camera, though. Maybe I should try sometime...

Hi Sue, Watching the sky at night Is so relaxing. Especially in the summer, while hearing the crickets in the field. I think by living in the country without all the city lights, you can see so much more while your star gazing.

D.J. Conway writes in her book "Moon Magick":

"The Gaelic word for fortune comes from 'that which denotes the Full Moon'. The Druids believed that when the circle of the Moon was complete, good fortune was given to those who knew how to ask the gods for it."

I wish you plenty of good fortune, Lydia.

Thank you, Lydia -
and good fortune to all of us, the whole community of bloggers.

Jan, Dave and Oswegan are right. This photo of the Falling Leaves Moon is exceptionally beautiful. A sentence from Nathanael Hawthorne comes to my mind: "Moonlight is sculpture."
